Sister Mitchells Surgery
Praise God for doctors who are willing to go out on a limb and try something new! Sister Mitchell met with a different orthopedic surgeon last month who gave her hope that if he tried a new procedure on her leg, that she may have a better chance to walk again. This would involve another surgery – not something that she wanted to hear! But after much prayer, she decided that this was the way to go and that God would carry her through once again! She had the surgery on Monday, March 26th and it went even better than the doctor expected! The vascular surgeon was able to go in at the same time and clean up a lot of the scar tissue and such around her veins and arteries and then the orthopedic surgeon worked his magic on the bone. After six hours in surgery, the procedure was deemed successful. She spent just 4 nights in the hospital and is now at home resting and recuperating. The doctor is VERY optimistic that she will be up walking in the very near future! Praise God!! We are so thankful to everyone who has offered up prayers for Sister Mitchell and the rest of the family over the course of the past 15 months. We know that God has heard and we continue to stand on the prophetic word that was spoken over Sister Mitchell – that she WOULD WALK AGAIN!! Thank you so much!! God bless!

Update on Sister Mitchell – March 8, 2007
Sister Mitchell went to the orthopedic surgeon on February 14th and he confirmed that the bone in her leg is indeed growing! Praise God!! She saw a new surgeon last week and he gave her great hope about a different procedure that he’d like to try – they would work to move one of the bones up in her leg (to fill in one of the gaps) and then pray that the bottom of that bone will grow down to fill in the remaining gap. She is still seeking an answer from God about her decision so please pray with her – especially for peace. As always, thank you for standing with the family, for your prayers, letters and calls. God bless!

Update on Sister Mitchell – November 14, 2006

Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint." There surely have been times over the past ten months when Sister Mitchell, and the entire family, began to get weary. But the Word tells us that “they that WAIT upon the Lord shall renew their strength…” So, they have all done what God commanded – they have WAITED! And we know that God has given strength to Sister Mitchell – not only in her body but also in her mind. Praise God! On her last visit to the Orthopedic Surgeon, the doctor said that he would see her in January. Please continue to pray for Sister Mitchell as God continues to move and heal in miraculous ways. We are still believing for new bone growth! As always, we are so thankful for your prayers. God bless you!

Friday, July 21, 2006 Jeremiah 33:6
"Behold, I will bring you health and cure, and I will cure you, and will reveal unto you the abundance of peace and truth."
Can God cause new bones to grow?? Of course He can for He is a God of miracles!! And God proved His miracle-working power again this week. Sister Mitchell had an appointment with the Orthopedist. Up to this point this Doctor has been VERY pessimistic on her recovery. However, this time when she asked about the surgery to put a bone into the 4-inch section of her leg that doesn’t have one, he sort of smiled and said that it may not be necessary since new bone was beginning to grow there! Praise God!! Sister Mitchell and Pastor Cyndi just began to shout and thank God for His faithfulness!
Please continue to agree with us that new bone will continue to grow and Sister Mitchell will not have to undergo another surgery. We know the miracle worker and He calls us by name!! As always, thank you for continuing to pray! May God bless you richly.

Jeremiah 30:17 "For I will restore health unto you, and I will heal you of your wounds, saith the Lord."
Praise God, His word never fails! Sister Mitchell continues on her journey of healing from the Lord. Just this week she was able to stand on her left leg for four minutes! Not long by some standards but after months of being bed-ridden, these were monumental minutes!! To top off her day of accomplishments, the Physical Therapist showed her how to get from the wheelchair into a car – so now she plans on being in church on Sunday!! What a joyous day that will be to see her coming into the church after six long months!
We know this journey is not yet complete but God’s word never fails so we stand with assurance knowing that God will restore her health! Thank you all for continuing to pray! May God bless you richly.

Sister Mitchell met with the bone specialist on May 17th and was told that her leg is healing nicely but they will not attempt to replace the bone again until at least September. The doctor indicated that it will still be a very delicate surgery and does not want to rush into it. She is continuing rehabilitation on her left leg and was encouraged to use it more everyday. She can also begin to do some movement with her right leg.
Please continue to keep her in your prayers as every movement is painful at this point but we know the God that restores and we know God is at work in her life even now. As always, we are so thankful for all of your prayer!

“Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope..” Acts 2:26
Sister Mitchell returned home on Friday, April 27th after being in physical rehabilitation for three weeks. With the help of her nurse, Victoria, she is now able to move from the bed to her wheelchair on a daily basis. Praise God! This may seem like a small feat to some, but after months of being confined to the bed, this is a major milestone. Even more exciting to her family is that Sister Mitchell has been inspired to “want” to get up more! We are so thrilled by how far she’s come and we know that God is taking her the rest of the way!
Sister Mitchell will be visiting the Plastic Surgeon on May 5th and the Bone Specialist on May 10th. Please be in prayer, especially on these days, for a good report. Her next surgery (the one to put a bone in her right leg) will be determined once she sees the doctor on the 10th. Please continue to pray against infection and against fear – the last time they attempted this surgery is when she lost so much blood so that is weighing heavily on her mind right now. But we know the Peace Speaker so please call Him by name! May God bless you richly for continually praying for our family. We are sincerely thankful for you.

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8
It is so comforting to know that God is still in the healing business!
Sister Mitchell entered an in-patient rehabilitation unit on Monday, April 10th and has already been able to stand up on one of her legs!! To God be the glory!! On discussing her first wheelchair trip outside in the fresh air, she stated that it “felt like a trip to town!” It’s during times like these that we realize how the small things in life can be GREAT BIG!
The physical therapists are working with her everyday to strengthen the muscles in her upper body, and they are also working with her to begin putting weight on her left leg. We know it’s because of your prayers that God has brought her thus far. Please keep on praying – especially for her right leg as there is still a long recovery period ahead on that one and we know more surgeries are to come.
May God bless you and yours. Have a peaceful, God-centered Easter!

Psalm 107:20 tells us that, “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” What a word of comfort to know that God has already healed Sister Mitchell! It may seem on the outside that she’s not fully restored, but God’s Word is faithful and true, and He is doing a work in her and through her.
Sister Mitchell was released from the hospital on Saturday and is at home, recuperating, once again. Please continue to lift her up in your prayers for we know that it is those prayers that have brought her this far. Continue to pray that infection stays out of her leg; that the arteries heal so they can move forward with the bone surgery soon; and that she will have peace in her heart and mind.
On behalf of the Mitchell family, thank you, once again, for all your prayers!

The bible says in Psalms 91:15, “He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.”
We know that God delivered Sister Mitchell yesterday from the throes of death and destruction. Even though her surgery did not go as planned, God still touched her and spared her life and for that we are so very grateful!
As the doctors went in to place a new bone in her leg, they had to remove “antibiotic beads” that they had placed in her leg previously. Because of much scar tissue around the arteries and veins, an artery was inadvertently cut and she lost 3 ½ liters of blood. However, they were able to stop the bleeding. Today, the blood is flowing normally to her leg and she is in stable, yet critical, condition. She is off the ventilator and her vital signs are good. Please continue to pray for her as her heart and lungs underwent much stress yesterday and she is, therefore, very weak.
The doctors will continue to monitor her very closely and they hope to be able to move her into a regular hospital room by tonight. It will be at least two months before they attempt this surgery again.
As a praise report, the Plastic Surgeon reported that his work on the “flap” (muscle) was a 100% success! Thank you, as always, for your continued, faithful prayers and support. May God bless you!

Urgent Prayer Request… Please pray for Sister Mitchell once again. She went in for her bone transplant on her right leg at 7:00am this morning. The surgery was expected to be a two-hour operation but instead turned into a ten-hour ordeal. An artery was inadvertently cut causing her to bleed very badly. She has had to have six pints of blood put back into her body. Fortunately, the surgeons have been able to stop the bleeding but she is now back in the Trauma Center at Hermann Hospital in Houston. The doctors said that the next twenty-four hours are crucial so please stand in the gap for her at this time. The family truly treasures all of the prayers that have already been lifted up on her behalf and they are still claiming total victory for her! We know that we serve a miracle working God so we are believing, yet again, for a miracle. As you pray, please also pray for peace and hope for each of the family members. Thank you so much for your prayers!!

After just a week at home, Sister Mitchell is resting more comfortably, eating better and looking healthier! It’s amazing what your own home environment can do for you! We’re also very happy to report that the Plastic Surgeon, today, said that her skin graft and “flap” (muscle) took 100%! To God be the glory!!
Sister Mitchell is scheduled to see the bone specialist next week so please be in prayer for a good report from him as well! We believe that God is mending those bones together little by little everyday. As always, thank you for standing in the gap with us! May God bless you!

“She’s a miracle lady!” is the statement uttered by one of Sister Mitchell’s doctors last night. Two good things happened yesterday – she was finally taken off oxygen and all IV’s have been removed. Praise God! She also spent ten minutes (all the doctors would allow!) in a wheelchair – what a relief to be out of her bed, even if it was for just a short time. The doctors are pleased with her progress and are now pushing her to get stronger and build up the muscles in her upper body so she can become more mobile on her own. Please continue to pray as we know she will have to undergo at least one more surgery sometime over the next few weeks. We will continue to keep updates posted here. God bless you all for your prayers, love, and concern. We wouldn’t have made it without you!

Ten days after Sister Mitchell’s surgery to move a muscle from her back to her right leg, the doctors are pleased with the results. In addition, the Orthopedic Surgeon is satisfied with the way her left leg is healing. They are planning another surgery 5-6 weeks from now to do a bone graft to her right leg. The doctors have stated that it will be 4-5 months before she can bear any weight on her left leg and they won’t put a timeframe on her right leg. However, we know that God can take care of that too! Please continue to pray, not only for total and complete healing, but also for a “faster than expected” recovery period.

Wednesday, February 1, 2006
Sister Mitchell continues to improve and get stronger each day. The Orthopedic Surgeon has indicated that he plans to move her to a special floor for rehabilitative services by the end of this week. They will, of course, continue to monitor her healing daily as well as her physical development. Please pray that this physical therapy, even though painful, will be successful. Just as your prayers have been a blessing to our family, we pray that you in turn will be blessed!

Saturday, January 28, 2006
Five days after her last surgery, Sister Mitchell continues to improve. However, as we knew it would be, it is a very slow and painful process. She has had to have many blood transfusions and she has been experiencing more pain but the doctors continue to assure us that this is normal and everything is coming along nicely. We know that God continues to hold her in the palm of His hand and it is your prayers that are getting her through each day and night. Please continue to pray that there is no infection, that the blood transfusions have all been free from any disease, and that her pain will ease. We are looking into setting up a blood drive on her behalf – once that is established, we will post the information here. As always, thank you so much for all of your prayers!

Better than their expectations…
After just 3 hours of surgery, the Chief Plastic Surgeon called the surgery a success – better than their expectations! Praise God! The reports are all good and the grafts took well. The surgeon left a “window” into her leg so they can continue to monitor the healing process, especially watching out for any infection. Her recovery time is still long as the broken bones will take time to heal but their spirits are high because of this good report! Please just continue to pray as you have been!! Thank you so much!!

Monday, January 23, 2006
Praise God for another day! Sister Mitchell went into her 6th major surgery this morning at 7:40am, well rested and nourished from the weekend. The doctors expect the surgery to last 3 ½ to 4 ½ hours and stated that we really will know more after the next five days. We already know that her leg is healed because we serve The Great Physician and He has her in the palm of His hand! Please just continue to lift her up in your prayers each day – we know that is why God is moving so mightily.

Thursday, January 19, 2006
Unfortunately, Sis. Mitchell was not able to undergo surgery this morning due to her blood pressure being too low. After she gets much needed rest and eats well over the weekend, they hope to perform the surgery on Monday morning. This is a minor setback, but "God has a way of working it out!"

Wednesday, January 18, 2006
Praise be to God! Sister Mitchell came through her six-hour surgery yesterday with no complications. The Orthopedic Surgeon put plates and pins in both legs and said that everything is looking great on that aspect. Please continue to lift her up in your prayers as she will undergo a major surgery at 8:30am tomorrow morning. They will be transplanting a muscle from her back to her right leg and will also close up the open wound. They will, however, leave a “window” so they can continue to monitor the healing process inside. The Plastic Surgeon has stated that the four days following the surgery will be critical in the viability of her leg. Please join with us as we continue to put our trust in the healing power of Almighty God!

Happy Birthday, Sis. Mitchell! Sis. Mitchell went into surgery this morning at 9:00 AM. The doctors stated that they would be putting pins/plates in both legs to help repair the bones; they will also be flushing the right leg out again. This surgery is expected to last between 3-4 hours. On Wednesday or Thursday, they plan to work on the muscles. The doctors also stated again that they are amazed at her progress thus far.
Pastor Cyndi is trying to stay off of her leg as much as possible; it started bothering her last night and is now experiencing some pain.
Please keep Sis. Mitchell and Pastor Cyndi in your prayers today. We thank God for the work that He has already done, and we know that he can still work miracles!

Monday, January 16, 2006 (3:27 PM CST)
Glory to God! The doctors were able to take Sis. Mitchell off the ventilator Sunday evening. She looks good and is doing very well! The family asks that you lift Sis. Mitchell up in prayer as she will undergo a major surgery around 6:00 AM tomorrow morning (originally scheduled for today at noon; however, postponed due to doctor's schedule and her not resting enough Sunday evening). The surgery is expected to take approximately six hours. Pray that God will touch the hands of the surgeons, that Sis. Mitchell will receive the strength that she needs, and that the surgery will be completely successful in repairing the bone and taking a muscle from her back and replacing it in the right leg. Pastor Cyndi is doing well today. She has spent most of the day at the hospital with her mother. Pray for continued strength and complete healing.

More Prayers Needed Now!! – Saturday, January 14, 2006
Although Sister Mitchell does continue to improve, we have a new prayer request that needs immediate attention. Because of the many surgeries she has already undergone, and due to her age, Sister Mitchell is having a hard time breathing on her own. The doctors are not able to remove her from the ventilator as of now because her breathing is still too shallow. This is a concern for the doctors. BUT we know that God has brought her this far and He will continue to do the healing in her body, so please be in specific prayer today for this. As always, thank you and God bless!

Update on Sister Mitchell – Friday, January 13th
Sister Mitchell will be undergoing surgery today to clean the major wound on her right leg. She will then, prayerfully, undergo a major surgery Monday to try and repair the bone in her right leg. Please continue to pray that the toxins and infection stay out. The doctors continue to be amazed at her progress. One of the ER doctors stopped by on Thursday night to check on her – they told us that even though the best team was working on her on Monday night, they still really expected to lose her leg but now it’s healing nicely! And she is moving her toes and her foot has very good color. We do serve a great big God!!

Update on Sister Mitchell – Thursday, January 12th
The doctors said that Sister Mitchell is making great progress and is doing really well! Praise God!! (We know that is from the prayers that are being lifted up all over the world!!) She is still facing many surgeries and a long road to recovery, so please continue to pray against any infections that could set in and against any set-backs. We value your prayers and we know that God IS in control!
Urgent Prayer Request
Please pray for Prophet Mitchell’s wife, Grace, and his daughter, Cyndi, as they were in a very bad car accident on Monday night (1/9/06.) Mother Grace had both of her legs crushed. The doctors have already performed surgery on her right leg and will operate on the left leg sometime today (Tuesday.) She moved her toes at 5:30am this morning – which is a miracle already! We know God is still in the miracle business and we are believing for many more throughout the coming days. Cyndi suffered minor bruises and has much stiffness, but she will recover fine. Please keep both of them, along with the rest of the family, in your prayers and check back here for more updates.
